THE GREAT INDIAN DRAMA: A TWIST IN THE TAIL...

With the IPL heading towards the final stage, we have finally got a pool of teams which are going to make it to the semifinals. I personally had quite a hectic week with a mixed bag of happenings all through it. It all started with me and my friend-cum-colleague Arun Sourie winning the Milan of the Villains contest organised by Nokia. We had a free trip to Kolkata to watch the ill-fated game between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals on 20th which was a disaster for the Shah Rukh Khan's Knights. Anyway, we had a great time out there at Eden Gardens and personally for me it was like a dream come true, watching a live cricket match that too at Eden!! We enjoyed every bit of it but ironically there wasn't much of cricket that we could see, that is of course the fate for all those who take all the pain to go to cricket grounds to watch the game. People crave to see matches in the stadiums all around the country, they are ready to walk miles and stand in mile-long queues and finally what they get is just a hazy glimpse of all the tamasha that is going on in the middle, my hats off to all those crazy fans. But one thing I should admit that if you are not a purist willing to see every tits and bits of cricket in details, you will have real fun out there with the crowd swaying up and down with the rhythm of the game as the fortunes sway in either way between the fighting teams.
Our journey was not fulfilled in more than one way, we were supposed to meet King Khan but he didn't turn up at Kolkata that day and more inportantly the Knights went down badly to the Jaipur Royals almost dashing their hopes to reach the semis of the tournament. We were back to "ground zero" in Mumbai after our overnight stay at the Oberoi Grand, Kolkata, another Grand experience in itself.
22nd morning and there we were in the old mundane world of Reliance Life Sciences answering the curious minds with querries like, "kaisa raha trip".........,"kolkata ko hara ke aa gaye"........and there was that common question....."Shah Rukh Khan se mile kya".........when the answer came "No" ....there were eyes scowling at us and disgusted mouths saying........"phir kya fayda hua itni duur jaane ka"..... I instantly had a guilt feeling, i don't know from where it had come......but it started pricking me incessantly......Oh my God!!.....why in hell didn't Shah Rukh Khan come to Kolkata that day................and these Nokia people.....really ditched us.........There was my friend Arun consoling everybody.........."any way we had a great time there"...........and so on.....Anyway that's how life goes........there will be wishes fulfilled and there will be those unfulfilled.......and people around will always be unhppy with what you get...and what you don't get........:):).....
So, the week went ahead at its own pace..........with more IPL matches taking place........Chennai losing to Bangalore and Jaipur, still struggling to fix their spot in the semis, Mumbai losing to Mohali in a nail biter thus giving Delhi a ray of hope........
Moving further to other happenings, Airtel-MTN talks failed thus preventing Bharti from entering into the Global Telecom Arena, BJP taking the lead in the Assembly Elections in Karnataka (first time in a Southern State) and Oil prices set to rise steeply.......giving another scoop of worry to the common man.
Let's see what's still there in store in the Great Indian Drama.............already we have seen Bangalore Challengers getting some pride and confidence back into their kitty ....with one or two odd wins and personally I am very happy for my cricket idol and hero Rahul Dravid. But the Deccan chargers have failed to get their act together till now already dragged down to the bottom of the points table............my consolations for one of the all time greats ....Gilchrist......

Rajarshi, you are write that people kept on asking SRK se mila ki nahi... KOL ko hara diya, etc, but nobody was unhappy with those things. We really enjoyed ur experiance in ***** and I do remember I had called U guys during match and excited with ur live telecast. Anyway, with IPL very few had emotional attachment with teams or players after all everything was just business for them.
Whole ur discriptions reminds cricket fever in India. Thanks...
